Roman Tour Guide / Roemischer Fremdenfueher

He of course is sure, the Auerberg excarvation site is Strabon's Damasia. His head is wooden however, and nothing is really all that sure. ;o) / Der ist sich natuerlich sicher, das die Auerberg Ausgrabung Strabon's Damasia entspricht. Leider ist der Typ ein Holzkopf, und auch sonst gibt es keinen wirklichen 100% Beweiss. ;o)

Alas only in german, a well understandable argument against the roman aettlement on the Auerberg being Damasia / Ein recht verstaendliches und einleuchtendes Werk auf Deutsch warum die Auerberg Roemersiedlung wohl nicht Damasia ist.

Yes, a lovely artwork, looking just as dapper in his helmet as Lucius Vorenus from the british history soap.... ;o)
Alas I do not know who the artist is. Those roman soldier pole fellows, each one with unique handcarved features, occure on all roman sites in the area between Abodiacum (Epfach), Foetibus (Fuessen) and Cambodonum (Kempten).

I still could not find out who the artist is that does those guys. Guess it is someone working for the Leader+ project "Alpenrand in Roemerhand". Anyway they mark and decorate any site within the project, it's a whole garnison of those caracters spread out all over the area. :o)
