This large grasshopper flew into this bush and posed for me as I climbed back out of the cirque.

and i think grasshoppers are quite friendly and good models
i write notes on a blog sometimes and one of the themes are these grasshoppers that live outside my little patio, they seem to like to be photographed :D

He was so heavy that I can't imagine how he ever got airborne - I heard him before I saw him, and he sounded like an old turbo-prop plane!

ha ha, yes, i've heard the noise they make
also, i can see when they've been around 'cause all the leaves are half bitten, sometimes they eat a circle in the middle of the leaves... not sure how they do that, curious insects, i could swear they are friendly!
