The massive building complex was built between 1936 and 1939 as a Kraft durch Freude (KdF) project. well, the question is good, but considering the whole area as it was planned, the impression given in the image distracts from the gigantonmania behind this project. meanwhile this rather looks like some worker's housings which could have been anywhere, the project of prora perfectly demonstrated the ability of the nazis to combine architecture and power..
