female - not technically a bee (Bees were introduced to North America by the Spanish in the 1700's), but an important pollinator nevertheless

Excellent timing.. that background is very nice too.
mramshaw August 30, 2011, 09:49 PM
Thanks Kato, the background was luck but the picture was patience.

I took this AFTER the one with the cluttered background, strangely
enough the pictures of mine people *really* like are the ones I take
when I am noodling around after getting the pictures *I* want.

wow!
(what camera / lens? I like the creaminess of the bg: Canon?)
mramshaw March 29, 2012, 10:35 PM
Thanks Edouard, yes Canon.

Either Canon 20D or 50D (don't remember which).

And the 70-200 F/4 with the 1.4x (small crop I think).

Very nice shot!!!!!
Light and colors are perfect!

Thank you, as you can see from the next picture, not staged.

So lots of patience needed, not that camping out by a feeder
does not require lot of patience too. Hummers are fun to watch,
for some reason it seems easier to get good shots of the females.
