Good shot and a bird we have here on local ponds.

They are much similar to Fulica americana, but also an other species within a genus, which means there are two easy ticks on the life list if you have business on the propper parts of both continents... American Coot is white below the bum, just like a moorhen, whilst ours wears no light panties to flash -- but instead it got a fully white front shield, like your caribbean subspecies, which is here to see rather well, no reddish blemish....
