✎ The famous Atlas clock has adorned the façade Tiffany & Co. since 1853 -- being moved each time the store went to a new location. The almost naked 9ft. tall figure was carved out of fir (wood) and painted to mimic the patina of weathered bronze by Henry Frederick Metzler, a friend of the store's founder, Charles Tiffany. The clock has been at its current location since 1940 -- though removed in 1990 & again in 2006 for restoration work.
