The island of Krk is located in Kvarner bay, in northern Adriatic, south of Rijeka. Krk is a great sailboat charter destination because of many ports and marinas. The island is connected to the mainland and the town of Rijeka by a bridge.
Krk's shores are indented with many bays and beaches. The largest bays are Puntarska Draga and Soline. Punat is located on the southwestern coast and is the island's second largest settlement. It boasts one of the best fully-equipped marinas in the Adriatic. When sailing around Krk make sure to visit the islet of Košljun in the vicinity of Punat.
Vrbnik is a settlement on top of a high cliff in the eastern part of Krk. The area around the old medieval town, the Vrbnik Plain, is covered with vineyards. Excellent Žlahtina wine is produced from the indigenous grape varieties.
When visiting the island of Krk on a sailboat you can relax in many bays and coves. Sail to Malinska or Vrbnik if you prefer sandy beaches. Beautiful beaches are located in Šipanja bay.
