What a great shot! Love the lack of sky and the S-curve of the sand dune pointing to the center of interest: the single animal (hyena, jackal?). The flat "horizon" is almost vertically centered, while the animal is horizontally centered. To avoid this I'd suggest a crop, see fotonote.

I hadn't thought of the S-curve as a lead-in line. I saw it more as break of the straight line patterns. But you are right.
I also tried the crop, and I see what you mean with that. It makes for a different picture, with more emphasis on the jackal. It certainly works like that.
On the other hand, I do like the horizontal line pattern in the picture. In this case the jackal, like the S-curve of the dune, is more of an object breaking the pattern. In the cropped version that horizontal line pattern doesn't come out as well. The picture thus works in a different way.
I like the cropped version too though, and I will keep both on my harddrive... Thanks.
