This image shows how much better a composition is when the main focus is off-centre - the previous (or is it the next?) shot with the trunk centre stage is much less successful, I think.

Assymmetry is a favourite of mine - to upload a dead centre shot, as you say: as a contrast, definitely makes the point. Am now fascinated by Gergana's pano idea.

You may try hugin. This is my favorite in making panoramics.

Besides, I also like asymmetry - it gives much more air in the shot. Making pano you can leave more space where you want it as well.

LOL! Thank you, Stevie! But I'm not really an expert in pano shots.
I would recommend autostitch to start with panos. It's easy to use and free.
And try to take the photos when it is not windy.
