Does it work? Is it to be recommended?

the funny thing is that it sort of works out of the box.
we're though gonna create a custom edition of 23 subscriptions for it - still web based probably.

gonna deploy it with some relatives and get some feedback.

the device is 320 euro + vat. pretty neat in terms of capabilites - but a weird form factor. too big to fit in a wallet, too small to really be a table or a photo frame. the device is a nokia n800 - not a photoframe specificly, but with good spec's to be one...

Interesting. I remember that I saw something similar as a dotcom business 5-6 years ago that was supposed to work through dial-up to the service provider's phone numbers in the US. Let me know when there are news 'cause I want something for my parents!

there's a couple of companies like that in the us. most of them on proprietary platforms - but some of them slowly shifting to wifi and open standards. but still in the 600-800 dollar pricing range.

yeah, it supports the gizmo project amongst others. also has a small video camera, etc.

still not really sure i'd ever buy it for personal use.
