We have been having very strange weather lately, cold but sunny.
Although it is early November here, the weather looks like summer.
I finally got up the nerve to take some pictures of the skateboarders,
the first four are from my first visit, the last four are from a later
visit - also another incredibly rare sunny November day.
The light is very tricky here, this is a concrete area under a number
of concrete roadways, so I have done what I can to express how my
eyes (which from an engineering point of view, are incredible and are
able to see things in a way that most cameras struggle to express) saw
things at the time. The area where the light is coming from will have
highrises soon, so these pictures may have some historic interest in
a few years.
This area was an industrial dumping ground for a couple of centuries
before being sold to an offshore developer, so some parts of it cannot
be built on - which explains the park (the area with the trees). I don't
think much will grow here (due to contaminated soil) so the green
area has been covered with astroturf and is very busy with soccer
games and the like. Which explains the expensive cars to be seen,
as this is within a few blocks of the very sketchiest part of Vancouver.
