Beautifully done, but might be nicer without the lamp and arch.

Yes, maybe. I hardly crop my images. In this case I was focussed so much on the right color/contrast/shadow tones that I frankly did not notice the arch at all! I can argue though, that lamp and arch provide necessary context to the scene.
