[Sigh...] These pictures document the launch of my first foray into aerodynamics. The rocket (seen in the earlier pictures) was a 3-stage D class Estes model rocket (which, if you don't know is a very powerful model rocket). I had designed it myself to be aerodynamically stable; and it was. However I forgot to calculate its acceleration, and so it never got to a fast enough speed for the aerodynamics to kick in. Well, that is not until it was 20ft in the air and pointing horizontal... (you do the math)
Eliot, Jason, Andrew Powell and myself were present for the event. (As well as a very surprised but unrelated soccer team).
