How many people race fans included realise the majority of the circuit is on the public roads and if you feel inclined you can drive down the Muslanne straight with your shopping in the back.I can remember doing just that and felt a tingle of excitement in doing so but felt cheated not being overtaken by a Rothmans Porche.
For those of you reading this watch a copy of
IN CAR 956 available from either Duke or Amazon.
Derek Bell takes you down this very road whilst qualifying for a major race possibly Le Man itself but how Canon managed to persuade him to install a valuable camera is beyond me.He was not alone on the circuit overtaking fine looking machinery including a very rapid 911 just before this shot.
The sense of speed in that dvd is remarkable its worth buying for the entire lap of Le Man itself but Bell also is seen setting the fifth fastest lap of the old Nerbergring in a fairly brisk 6min 41sec an average of 120mph.
What does this photograph do for you, does it conjour up raw speed or a jaunt to the local shops.
