oh wow!
now i am jealous! you saw powaqaatsi on big big big screen?? and philip glass with big orchestra? great event! and i must confess i haven't seen powaqaatsi, just the other 2 from the collection but still... glad you catched this, bet it was superb!

oh at the prospect park... mmm? maybe even Paul Auster was there, my favorite author from 2005 and the whole 2000's for that matter ;)

it was really something, near the end they had a vocalist come out and solo the piece from the album. no music, just what sounded to these untrained ears to be a lament, fully in an arabic tongue, and barely a rustle from the crowd of thousands(?) rapt. it was just one of those moments- middle of brooklyn, hearing a beautiful voice sing strange words and feeling that people were celebrating this
