I hesitate to confess that I didn't realize (or maybe don't remember??) there being oil refineries in Greenpoint. I definitely knew nothing about Newton Creek and the myriad horrors.

I'm familiar with the smell of oil refineries, but it seems the air is pungent with so much more than that. How did you find it when you were there?

And I didn't look at the video links found in the comments so maybe I'm speaking a bit out of turn. But I can't help balking a bit at the audacity/tone of the comments. Seems to me some of the commenters are missing the point ENTIRELY.
