the petes, hamill and dexter, do a unique book event that has nothing to do with a book and everything to do with writing. talked on the state of the newspaper today, journalism in general, and peppered with lots of great stories of the newsrooms in the old days  (the opera singer hired on a trial basis who regularly filled the air with arias and was taken as background noise by the third day, the co-worker dressed in a bedsheet and waving a kitchen knife trying to hail a cab). a rare seat around the campfire with a couple of veterans, it was the real deal
