yep. neat to me for a couple reasons. that building with the slanted roof is the citigroup building, the first place i worked after moving to new york. after moving south of it, i am pretty much directly east and can close the circle. it was a big decision to leave manhattan, and i put a lot of thought into it. but when 'queens noir' editor robert knightly gallantly gave me a (four hour) tour through queens, i realized THIS was the new york i wanted to live in - 112 languages in 20 square miles, and all the attendant food, culture and energy - NOT an overpriced, increasingly bland, whitebread manhattan increasingly devoid of character & characters, replaced by the superrich and megacorporations.
i realized later that when spring comes, and, coincidentally, when the green leaves grow on that tree, the skyline will vanish.
