Sehr gut. I'm afraid that, on my travels to China, I have become quite tired of the local cuisine after a while. What you're consuming looks appealing. Ever have any snake wine? I gather it's quite popular in the Guilin area. Tastes rather like the Turkish Raki.

I don't like alcohol but I love Chinese cuisine. You have so many choices no matter if you like the typical Chinese fast food or going in a restaurant. Especially in Beijing you can choose between all the typical Chinese local cuisines, for example Sichuan, Guangdong,Xinjiang, Hunan, Jiangxi or whatever style. And if you are tired of it, you just try Japanese or Korean stuff. I love it...

I have to confess that once in Beijing I resorted to a McDonald's at lunch. The only Occidentals to be found therein were myself and some tall, blond fellow who looked even more out of place than I. I suspect he was some Swedish lout.

If you are unaccustomed to spirits, don't try snake wine as an intro. Three good shots and a teetotaler like you might be arrested for public drunkenness. I wanted to purchase a bottle, but since the bottle is filled with snake corpses, I feared it wouldn't pass through customs.
