In Cologne ( Germany ) it’s tradition:
when a young couple marries,
they place a lock with their names and date of marriage
along the bridge fence of the “Hohenzollernbrücke” and
throw the key over the railing -
representing everlasting love that cannot be broken,
thus preserving their love forever.
