The motif of the winged wheel is somewhat of a classic of old railway stations -- I have seen it recently at the Central Station of Danzig.

Yes, I tried google the origin of the symbol, but found no info of real use.. I found several other connections, like the US ice-hockey team Detroit Red Wings and Dunsfold's Wings and Wheels show..
