Differences Delete, Erase, Shred, and Wipe

In the world of technology, we are of course familiar with the presence of smartphones and laptops. Therefore, of course, you often hear the words Delete, Erase, Shred, and Wipe. Each of the words conveys different meanings so that it is better for you to know each of the meanings of the words. In this way, you will be able to use each of the functions more optimally. To help you understand all of those words and functions, here are the explanations.

What is Delete?

Delete literally means deleting files from a computer or smartphone. But, if on the computer, it will usually go to the Recycle Bin. You can even still find easily the data that you delete in the Recycle Bin. It is because all the data that you delete will not actually be 'deleted' but they are actually moved to the folder of the Recycle Bin. So, Delete will not actually delete the file, but rather put it in an invisible space. If you want to have the data back, you can simply restore them from the Recycle Bin.

What is Erase?

Erase is a way of deleting files just like Delete, but this will completely remove them from the hard drive. It might be a little bit difficult when you want the data to be restored as you will not be able to find the deleted data in the Recycle Bin that you cannot simply just restore it as if you just delete it. So, you must be careful with your actions for this one.

What is Shred?

Shred is the process of shredding a hard disk in order to destroy all the data contained in it. It is also one of the most effective ways that you can do if you want to eliminate your data permanently. If you do not know how to do it, you can hire a provider of data shredding services
as such a provider will certainly have the tool to destroy the hard disk and it is called as the shredding machine. Then, with the tool, the provider will help you make sure that all the data have been gone forever.

What is Wipe?

Wipe is the process of deleting files on a large scale. Usually, this is done if you want to dump all the data on the drive. If you are using Windows 10, when typing Wipe then all of the data will be reset. So, it is very useful if you want to clean all of your data completely.
