If I had to do it again, I might have paid more and picked up the 18-70mm, instead.
The bokeh is very good when used in this manner. The focus is sharp enough that you will want to add a little fuzziness in post to keep people looking pretty!
AF is so fast you won't even notice, though it can seek in lower-light situations. No noticeable chromatic aberration that I can see, but even with the ED coating you might see some flare, which might be related to the number of elements and the internal focusing setup. I've learned to live with flare, and even work with it (for that 70s feel!) so this is less of a problem. Most of the time you can just snap on the lens hood, but I've started to leave this at home when I use this lens.
