Life is sweet! You know, guys and gadgets. Boys and toys.
The postman just delivered these two My Book external hard drives. 500 gb each. It's the end of those days burning cd's and dvd's for back-up. They don't work after less than a year anyway! I've lost important files and photos that way!

How do you back up your files? Online backup web hotel or something more local?

Sweet... The same HD as I've got, just a notch better. How much did you pay for one of them?

I kinda use 23 as online backup... But otherwise I too use an external HD.

Online backup is my deal. But I also own a couple of WDs Passport 2,5" hard drives. Dont like the size of those My Book discs - not very mobile...

Where do you backup online?

Had a Passport too, but it quit after being droppet from a chair.

I backup my pictures on 23 and flickr. For my databackup I primarily use the Gspace extension for Firefox.

I have also tested some of the free services mentioned here:

None of which I use regularly.

I have a D-Link DNS323 which holds two SATA harddrives that run in Raid-mode.. I also have a 500 GB MyBook just in case something goes wrong with my DNS323.. so basically three identical data-storages, all accessible from my wireless network :D

Just bought a Mac magazine... They recommended www.mediamax.com

They give you 25gb storage for free! And they give the users FTP access.

@ Migger: Well using 23hq (or Flickr) could be nice, but if the 23 uploader remains to be as buggy as it is the last time I uploaded alot of pics, I'll go for something else.
Nice link by the way.

@ Kim: Sounds like a nice setup. How much did it set you back?(how much did it cost?) :-)

@PD: The DNS323 unit cost about 1500,- and the harddrives for it set me back about the same.. and then the mybook which was around 800.. so 3800 in total.. expensive, but backed up :D

Yeah... That's important!

But how did you hook your D-Link DNS323 up so it's wireless? Is it just a matter of connecting it to a router or? :).

yup, it's connected to my wireless router - it even has media and ftp server built in, so all my data is available from anywhere :)

Hmm... Sounds tempting :).

If I get myself a job soon I think I'll invest in something like that :).
