We were going through the Serious Play @ LEGO, whereby in teams, we had to construct what we thought was the school of the future using LEGO bricks and then tell a story about what we had constructed. It was a really interesting experience which helped to internalise and crystalise our understanding of what we constitute of our own interepretation of what is a future school.

Coincidentally, this is aligned to our SWS pilot project on Critical Literacy through Narratives. Our Lower Kingdom teachers facilitated the use of LEGO bricks as tools of communication for the Primary 1 and 2 students (7-8 years old). The students first built their models around the themes of "My Singapore" and "My Neighbourhood" and described their models and learning processes in a short write-up presented in Microsoft Words.

I felt that Lego is a type of 'toy' that can increase our creativity and also learn to design things. Pupils learn through playing Legos which one by one and step by step, they could improve on their mathematices and science.

I'm just wondering what Jeanne meant about learning Science through Lego - do you have any idea how that's possible? I am also impressed that adults are building structures with Lego bricks! Adults take life too seriously, I think. As for futuristic schools, I hope we will have internet conferences with overseas students within the classroom so that we know how other students learn and improve on our own learning.
