I once came across a gypsy on the streets of Montevideo. She had a rope belt and attached to the end was a cross. She asked me if she could read my palm. She took my hand and held it in hers. Without even once lowering her eyes from mine she said "I can see from the lines in your hands that blah blah blah..." Interspersed with her blah blah blahs was the repetition of the prompting word "money" as if only money would allow her to open up and reveal the mysterious secrets of the universe. Since I only gve her a small amount of change I think at that time "the Powers" would only allow her to divulge small secrets to me like that I would only find lint in my pockets if she was successful in parting me from all of my cash.

"I see in my crystal ball that you are about to fall out of your chair and spend weeks in physical therapy. I also see that my accomplice's hand will soon appear discretely from under the tablecloth and start to rummage through your purse..."
