Thanks for the close-up - looks a bit like a fertility idol!

Totem-pole style, but not a totem-pole, I think?

A carving is what is usually is called. I need to go again and read the signs for the actual names of each totem/carving.. I think this one is called "mother and child".
I have some more, one I am reluctant to post, but I will later, hey it's just a carving :-)

Thanks for the title, I would have guessed something like 'Madonna & child'.

As for the 'boogeyman' statues (Wild Woman), the legend made me smile.

I believe it is the origin of the 'boogeyman' legend, meant to keep troublesome children in line!
