Left: New hotness

Now I just need a node101 sticker for New Hotness. If anyone have any tips for must-have software on the mac I'm all ears.

Haha :o)
I do need something to amulate Windows so I can check stuff in IE, but running XP all the time sort of defeats the purpose!

I do need a new mail client since the Opera mail client doesn't have the right "feel" to it on the mac.

Try thunderbird as an email client.

I'm testing Thunderbird - at least it has "virtual folder", but it certainly takes a lot of work to set up the way I want it. I need to route lots of ailing list mail into folders, but retain them in the inbox until I've read them. Next issue is that I can't figure out how to get a threaded view, but I suspect I just need to read a help file. :o)

the native mail.app supports threaded views and has excellent spam filtering, but I still use eudora.

bbedit is must have, there is lite and pro, it is the standard real text editor for macintosh. Will think about the other must haves....

Thanks for the tips, guys. Looks like I have a bit of researching to do before I find the perfect editor.

TextWrangler will have to be my favorite editor after trying lots and lots.. and it's free :-)

Otherwise I'd guess looking through some of the tags at Cupertino wouldn't be such a bad idea? ;-)

Andreas Haugstrup Pedersen August 16, 2006, 03:06 PM
I'm already subscribed to Cupertino. :o)

Thanks fr the TextWrangler tip. I've been using it for a week now (you can't beat free). It very good, but lacking in some areas. Textmate does seem like it's worth the €39, so I'll have to bite the bullet in this one. :o)

Congrats matee, here's my list of must-have software:

Quicksilver
Desktop manager
TextMate
Vienna
Camino
Cocoalicious
iTerm
Journler
mPlayer
VLC
Adium
QuickImage
http://virtuedesktops.info/downloads/
iEatBrainz
OmniWeb

And for mail, I just use Apple's Mail application, it's pretty good, once you install MailTags, Mail-Act-On, and GrowlMail.

Enjoy (:
