Looking south from under the Viaduc de Millau. The bridge was designed by British architect Norman Foster.

Breathtaking construction! What a brilliant idea, Stevie, to use the old road and to take such magnificent photos! Very well done! :***)

Thanks Gergana! I wanted to get shots a bit different from all those I've seen in magazines, so I decided from the beginning to view the bridge from underneath!

Yeah, that's what I thought when I saw these photos; despite there being a glut of photos all over the place when the thing was finished, it's still interesting. From below, it looks even more colossal. It's a testament to the design that it frames the landscape to a degree, rather than just being overbearing.

Thanks Liam. I can't quite decide what I think about the bridge in the landscape. I knew this valley before the bridge was there, and it had a wildness that has now inevitably been lost. On the other hand, the structure is so impressive that it's hard to resent it!
