I was watching gone with the wind yesterday and this reminds me of it - one of the painting-like backgrounds that looks hyper-real, imagined or impossible, everything just falls into place in the most perfectly aesthetic way.

The trees on the left break this illusion, but you can't take a photo of the imagination.

Thanks Ethan! That's a fascinating comment. I wonder if it's something to do with the quality of the light? This was a misty winter's morning just as the sun broke through with this weak watery light. To me it gave the scene an almost 2-d look, and you're right that the foreground tree disrupts that.

Yeah, I think there's something to that. The sun's quite low and positioned so we can see both the harsh light and the dark shadow, I think it's similar to the way a painter will clarify an image, without losing it's reality. And it's just really well taken.
