Historical sources record that, as his army crossed the Hellespont headed into Persian territory, Alexander sailed down the straits to the ruins of Troy, where he ordered a solemn ceremony and perhaps a sacrifice. Some say that happened on this spot, and that Alexander ordered this altar built in commemoration. Wer wisst?
