Hausbach Lock / Hausbach Sperrwerk

"Censoring" trees and rubble to go to town with the flow. I just noted the "Emmentaler" look. :o) / Die haelt nur Baeume und Geroell zuruck, damit sie nicht in die Ortschaft gespuelt werden. Das die wie eine Scheibe Emmentaler aussieht, ist mir nicht entgangen. :o)

That's an interesting way to slow down the flow of water! Not necessarily the "wall" itself, but having the holes in it for water to pass through. Must be a site to behold when the volume of water is at its peak during the Spring melt.

Yes, it is that kind of thing, not making energy or somesuch. I thought the different random holes are remarkable, as Weiler is most famous for hard cheese with holes....

I wonder if there was a mill at this location some time in the distant past....

Well, I am not their town historian, it is just some smal town with a few cheese company brand outlets we sometimes choose for a saturday hike as it is a nice valley with a good trail network and we also like to stock up the fridge there and get some of the travel expense back in from the savings on favorites.
But frankly, I daubt if we ever try again to visit in winter. I got to see more of downtown this time than ever, but only for hiking trails where all closed for danger or slick as a slide and we had to walk somewhere, so we went a bit around buildings, reading historic markers and admiring details.
