Van Houses & Kyoto 11/31-12/10
On November 31st, Jenn's parents arrived in Okayama-shi to visit us for 10 days, and to do some sightseeing in Japan. We picked them up at Okayama station after they took the bullet train down from Tokyo.
They stayed at our apartment for two nights and then moved into a much more comfortable hotel room, convenient to downtown and the train station. We showed them Korakuen park, Okayama castle, and the places we tend to frequent for dining and shopping. They took a few daytrips to Hiroshima, Miyajima, and Kurashiki while we were working during the week. Then we took them to Kyoto for their final weekend in the country. John fell a bit ill from jet lag and respiratory problems, but we still were able to see quite a bit while there. I got carried away with the nature shots, but the beauty of Kyoto's scenic spots is overwhelming. I don't usually go in for millions of shots of sticks and leaves. But things were just too beautiful to resist. We had a great time, though it felt quite short. The Van Houses seemed to enjoy themselves as well.
