I was curious about the crop factor, funnily enough I have just been
watching all of Sergio Leone's westerns which use CinemaScope to
masterful effect. It would be an interesting discussion to figure out
whether his directing was influenced by the limitations of the format.

One nice thing is that you don't see those god-awful J. J. Abrams
lens flares - in the extended version of the Good, the Bad and the
Ugly there's a scene in the desert where he films the sun and there
is very minimal flare - just like a Black Magic will not blow out
the whole screen when filming a bright light.

Anyhow, nice picture and a good use of this aspect ratio!

Hi mramshaw

Thank you for your interesting comment. I have always been a fan of the wide screen format in cinema. I clearly remember watching for the first time (reruns of) West Side Story, My Fair Lady and Lawrence of Arabia in glorious wide screen format. I have no doubt the format impacts the way films are directed which also explains why there are are directors which have become experts in using the wide formats, like Sergio Leone or John Carpenter.

A few years ago, after some time publishing photos on 23hq I felt the need for a wide format and, at the time, I decided on the Cinemascope ratio in a "kind of" homage to the format. I really like the format and many times I have to refrain myself from overusing it.
