Brilliant series!

(By the way, more than one louse are lice - one of English's many irregular plurals! And I think these would be called aphids or blackfly in English rather than plant lice - at least I've never heard them referred to as lice. Not that it matters in the slightest!!) :))

blackflys are not feeding on plants... they feed on humans well animals like mosquitos. And the bit hurts and swell a lot. (See my face. ;) )

But lice comes from the German Blattlaus and translated to english... leaf louse. I like these translation.... Ice bear...

Aphids, also known as plant lice (and in Britain as greenflies), are small plant-eating insects, and members of the superfamily Aphidoidea... (Wikipedia).
Interesting semantic diskussion!
I will fight on and get it shap nex time.

A very interesting discussion! I've always called green aphids greenfly, and black aphids blackfly. I've never heard of blackflies that bite people! But I agree that calling aphids lice is a nice expression that describes them perfectly - but I don't think many native British English speakers use that term, although American English speakers might, I don't know. Language, especially English with its many different variants, is a complicated business!!

And I'll be calling round for that cup of tea one day! :))

I will take a tea with some milk and honey and enjoy the morning inside plus blackfly season is nearly over. :)

Ah, here is the subtlety of language! Black flies are not the same thing as blackflies!!
