here is a tip for getting steady shots in low light with a point and shoot - use burst mode. continuous mode. whatever your camera calls it.

take a burst of 4 to 5 shots. the first and the last will be blurry due to shutter button press and release. the middle three will be noticeably sharper, and one of those jut might prove adequately sharp.
