Japanese Rose ↔ Rosa Multiflora ⇢ Rambling Rose
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

In my front yard garden.
Full spectrum color, high definition photo…

✍ This highly invasive non-native rose appeared in my garden 2yrs. ago. I wasn't sure then what type of rose it was, so I nurtured it hoping it would bloom so it could be positively identified. It bloomed for the first time this Spring... Now that I know what type of rose I'm dealing with, it will be uprooted and planted in a pot which will allow for more aggressive and responsible management. I've always wanted one of these roses, but their noxious weed/invasive species status prevents their sale or trade in the US. The rose is still prized by many for its wonderful fragrance and hardiness -- even rose "developers" prized it and used the root stock to create many hybrid roses (most notably Rugosa roses) for many years. So I will not be destroying the rambler, but, I also will not allow it free reign in my gardens and it will have its flower clusters removed after blooming is done to prevent growth of hips. It's my believe that with responsible and aggressive management, there is no reason for this pretty rose to not be enjoyed =)
