Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NYC, NY. Full spectrum color, high definition + HDR photo merger… ✎ Designed by John H. Duncan & constructed between 1889-1892; underwent restorations in 1980 and again in 2000. Inside the arch and on facing walls are equestrian relief sculptures of Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant -- the latter is pictured here. William Rudolf O'Donovan (1844-1920) sculpted both men and Thomas Eakins (1844-1916) did the two horses. The Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument received landmark designation in 1973; in 1975, all of Grand Army Plaza became a New York City historic landmark. |

But what an unusual idea not to comission each sculpture by one artist but split the work up this way... it certainly has advantages for a similar style to have it done this way but I never came across a story about an other artwork with rider sculptures done this way.
