Some very expensive wine names on the crates! I used to use these as flower containers.
Terrific shot!

Oh, really? I don't know the difference, but now I have a fresh perspective. Thank you!

Yes, really - and very attractive they looked to. Of course the wine snob in me had the most exclusive wine names prominently displayed at the front of my garden (not that anyone ever commented on my refined taste in fine wine! - the peasants!).

I am one of the peasants. I know nothing about wine and I'm from California wine country! Yes, there is an Oregon wine country, too, but...pffft.

Oregon wine can be excellent! I think I mentioned this to you a while ago and you expressed surprise that there was Oregon wine at all! So I was pleased to have been of didactic service!
Anyway I have a fine regard for peasants of all stripes, just as I have many friends who know nothing about wine, starting with my girlfriend who hardly drinks at all! :o0
Have a good week!
Best wishes, Andy

I loved siena........thinking about going back :)
oregon wine....
I visited northern oregon some years ago and went back to Seattle along the Colombia gorge ...visited wallawalla and its beautiful wines, but I think it was in washington state.....wallawalla....what's in a name......:)

Hi Roeli and Diane!
I know there is some very good wine in Washington State too (I haven't drunk any from the Walla Walla vineyards but I have heard it is good) and also now in British Columbia, Canada, but the wine I know, and which has had an excellent reputation for 2-3 decades, is from the Willamette Valley, and that is definitely in Oregon! I have drunk one or two excellent pinot noirs (a famous, and difficult to get right, grape variety, Diane!) from there!

Hope that helps!
Best wishes to you both!

It does help, but I already know of Oregon and Washington wines. I think you were telling me about another wine region I didn't know about. Or, another possibility - Alzheimer's! However, I do know that California wine has higher status than any other US wine. Not that I would be able to tell you why. I suspect it is partly because that state has been internationally known for a long time and for a lot of things, whereas Oregon and Washington aren't. Besides that, I'm a California snob.

You are quite right, Diane. Californian wine has the tradition and reputation, established in many areas such as the Napa and Sonoma valleys, for wines of great quality (and price!). So you can be justly snobbish if you wish!
Happy Christmas!
