Paul Schneider. NOT MANZANITA BERRIES !!!!!! ..... they are Pyracantha berries and are mildly poisonous unless properly prepared.... the two plants are distinctly different... manzanita has red bark, pyracantha has grey bark..... manzanita has small clusters of berries, pyracantha has a huge amount of berries.... this is a case of don’t eat the wild things unless you are absolutely sure what you have

They're beautiful, aren't they? My parents have one that bears orange fruit in their backyard. Every year a Mockingbird claims the crop as its own and feverishly guards the big shrub against all other takers.

Now, if I remember correctly -- it's been a while since I've come across a Manzanita -- another difference is that it's thornless whereas Firethorn has some majorly nasty thorns on it.

Anyway.... Nice find & capture =)
