"Know what it is?" There was a fifty-year-old Mexican with a long, black beard, leaning on a pool cue, in the doorway.

The voice startled me. I was totally focused on getting the whole car in my field of focus. The sun was going down and my attention on the task left me oblivious to anything around me.

Buying a little time to think about what he had said, "Weell", I dived, momentarily, back into my childhood, and hot rod worship days, "It might be aaaaah a '61 Ranchero, with 59 Caddie taillights. (I remembered they fit in there, exactly.)

"Yep," he approved, with a little smile, and lifted his pool cue.

"I'm an old guy," I said, with a little laugh.

"Me too," he said, with a nod, and, with a smile on his face, too, went back through the door.

Nice find! Nice editing, too...
I think the cars group would enjoy the addition of this shot =)

Realy strange car. Just where is the blinkers of that in case the driver decides to go left or right? And something like a rear view mirror might be a nice addition.

Hi Sonja. The Ranchero owner would be so proud, hearing your comments. American custom car culture is based on creating something that is outside of the norm. Individuality is what they strive for, the wish to have something nobody else does.
The blinkers are in the same place. The bullet lenses light up in normal style. It's just that they were not from this car. In California, this guy could get a ticket for not having the rear view mirrors. He may just pay the tickets because he likes the way the truck looks without them, or he may put bicycle mirrors at the top front of the windows, as do many in the hot rod culture. Sometimes style and safety do not go hand and hand. He probably bumps his head on the roof a lot, when going over bumps, too.

Creeksong laughs. Thanks for your comment, Crazyman. The Ranchero isn't' really THAT small. It was a Falcon made into a truck. A mid-size.
We have an Anglia with a blown 427 in town.
