This was the image straight out of the camera. It breaks the horizon orientation rule so I straightened the tree for correctness. I think this picture is ten times better.

Your not only straighening but also lightening up the whole thing makes the other one look less gloomy, much lighter and almost etheral, but as a tree with clouds behind is not gravity-bound in the sense of water with horizon and reflections or classic manmade architecture basing on straight angles, I think the crop with the diagonal tree here is just great, especially the suggestion of the weather exposure in dark version makes it indeed even better with a slant.
They are just very different moods created with simple changes, but both feeling right.
