Uncommon beauties (outside the tropics).... Violet Churcu ↔ Blue Trumpet Flower (Iochroma cyaneum) blossoms are certainly attention getters =) Nice find and capture!

This was the only plant, of this variety, I have ever seen. Tried vegetative propagation, but no go. Perhaps it'snot an adventitious variety? I took the blooms off and cut and angle below a node, with a clean blade. I will try again when it is not blooming. I know the internal chemistry is more conducive, then. Didn't use a rooting hormone, though...
My friend who is growing it said, when asked about it's nomenclature, that it was a purple trumpet vine. "Yeah", I thought, "You're making that up!" I owe him an apology.
Your comments are always appreciated. Thanks!

The easiest way to propagate these is from hard wood cuttings. Choose a section that has healthy leaves and cut it out. Coat it in rooting hormone (not a must) and stick it in rich potting soil mix. Put it in a sunny, non-drafty, window indoors, be sure to not let the soil dry out completely, and be patient. The leaves the section has will help keep the cutting alive and well and encourages roots to grow so don't remove them. I think you'll find this method works well... Good luck ;)

By the way, these also produce seeds which are usually fertile -- especially in the non-hybridized varieties like this one. You can try that method of propagation, too.
